The Best Dry Skin Remedy Is In Your Kitchen
When our skin gets dry, most of us tend to treat it with commercial moisturizers. While that’s not entirely bad, many of those
products contain alcohol which can add to the irritation. Fortunately, the best dry skin remedy can probably be found right in your own
kitchen cabinet.
Search through your kitchen and give these home remedies for dry skin a try.
Skin needs to be moisturized from the inside out. If it is not producing enough oils
in the first place, putting moisturizer on the skin will have limited benefits. Make sure
you're getting enough omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in your diet. These are found in nuts,
legumes, and fish. Also be sure to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables that contain vitamins
A, B and E.
If you can't seem to get enough of the nutrients you need in your diet,
consider using whole food supplements.
Drink plenty of water. Proper hydration is crucial to keeping your skin soft and
supple.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine. Both are very dehydrating, so they rob your skin of the
moisture it needs.
Avoid using soaps, perfumes and detergents that dry out your skin. If you're not sure
whether this is contributing to the problem, try switching these items out one at a time.
Allow a week or two to analyze the results. If it makes a difference, you'll know what to stay
away from.
Make a banana and papaya mask. Simply puree one of each together and apply to the
skin, leaving it on for 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water. This will help remove dead skin cells and moisturize the skin.
Apply aloe vera gel after bathing. Aloe is a wonderful natural
moisturizer.
When washing your face, use mineral water instead of tap water. Tap water may contain
traces of chemicals that could exacerbate dry skin.
Put 2 to 5 tablespoons of raw
peanuts in the blender and chop them up very finely. Add enough milk to make a paste, then add
1/4 teaspoon of honey. Apply to the face, let dry, and rinse off with cold
water.
Take a milk bath once every few
weeks. This works nicely for dry skin all over the body. Oatmeal baths are also highly beneficial.
Remember, everyone is different and the best remedy for dry skin for one
person may not be the same as for another. The important thing is to start treatment at the first sign of irritation. With so many different
home remedies for dry skin available, you’re apt to find one that’s just right for you.
