Finding A Homeopathic Dr.
With an ever increasing interest in alternative medicines, more and more people are searching out information about how to locate a homeopathic doctor. And, not surprisingly, many are utilizing online sources to aid them in their search.
Following are some tips that should help if you are going online to find information about a homeopathic doctor.
Most importantly, you want to make sure that any doctor you are considering is licensed and accredited by an institution specializing in this field. Such is not always the case for some websites you may encounter.
For instance, the British Homeopathic Association has a list of members who meet the prescribed criteria in accreditation and licensing. One can find a doctor in the UK, or anywhere else in the world, just by clicking on the country and within seconds several names will appear for that country. In addition, the city and town in which they are located will be listed, along with their area of specialization.
Clicking on the details tab will take you to another page which gives you personal information about the doctor, such as profession, qualifications, address, email, telephone number, and website address.
In the US, there is the Natural Center for Homeopathy. But because anyone can join there is no guarantee that the homeopathic doctors listed have been accredited, have credentials, or a license of any kind.
We all know that word of mouth is a powerful informational tool. If you have a friend or family member who has knowledge of, or is currently seeing a homeopathic doctor, consider scheduling a consultation with that doctor. Be sure to ask questions about their medical background and methods used in treatments. Decide whether or not you feel comfortable with the doctor. Sometimes a doctor is excellent at healing, but may have a poor bedside manner.
Remember that you don’t have to settle on the first homeopathic doctor you find. Consult with two or three and then make a decision.
Knowledge is power. You must read and research as much as possible about homeopathy. This will aid you in asking the right questions. And again, you want to make sure the doctor is certified by having any of the following: A Council of Homeopathic Certification, membership in the Homeopathic Association of Naturopathic Physicians, or the American Board of Homeotherapeutics.
